First of all, let me introduce myself because after a bit you never know! My name is BSP and I’m a synaesthetic artist. My production is a combined language intertwining art, music, environmental awareness an social issues. Being a singer and a painter, I’m continuously developing an original way to express myself. I believe ‘artivism’ is powerful because it doesn’t overwhelm the public as generally scientific reports do. Instead, it offers a solution and a profound sense of optimism. Producing works from reclaimed waste brings an activist touch and a powerful message that is way more engaging. Artivism creates empathy and compassion, making those watching relate to the cause. What art is triggering is a commitment for us all to take a stand in the smallest, and yet most meaningful way and I want to be part of it!
One of the great challenges today is that we often feel untouched by the problems of others and by global issues like climate change, war, politics, even when we could easily do something to help. We don’t feel strongly enough that we are part of a global community, part of a larger we. Giving people access to data most often leaves them feeling overwhelmed and disconnected, not empowered and poised for action, at least me. This is where art can make a difference.
I’m working on a new project that speaks about different topics and I want to think I’m putting myself out there to change things via art or at least to make people thinking about actions.
For years I’ve been looking forward to engaging with humans in a collaborative project able to bring us closer and create something unique together. I finally feel that the time has come! I would need enthusiasts to come and meet me, bringing 3 objects otherwise destined to be thrown away. Specifically, I’m looking for discarded or used fabric pieces, plastic, metal or glass. Each piece will be then manipulated, integrated with colours on canvas and transformed in art. I would like you to DM/email me or tell me in person about the stories behind the pieces you will donate, in order to share stories and form recycled reflections of this contemporary society. I will bring your history with me in a beautiful venue I will reveal soon, where we will be protagonist together and I’m really looking forward to it. I need to set up a date and it will be in London very soon. There are other pieces too I will need your help for, but let’s go step by step!
One of the major responsibilities of artists is to help people not only get to know and understand something with their minds but also to feel emotionally and physically. By doing this, art can motivate people to turn thinking, into doing. Art can bring us together, to share and discuss. What do you think about that?
In the meantime, I’m also rehearsing for Venice. I’ll be featured in Biennale with “The Blending of Senses” - the performance I’m bringing all around Europe - on 12 and 13 May. Yes it’s soon! Thanks to my agent Max and Itsliquid Group, I’ll perform in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello and Palazzo Bembo on Gran Canal. If you’ve never been to Venice and you have a few spare days, I highly recommend to visit the place. It’s magical and surreal and the first time I went there I couldn’t believe it exists such beauty in the world. I’ll give more details about this experience in the next newsletter.
I love the idea of being pen pals! I’m starting to feel the connection already ✍️ 💚
