“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate in one go” - Truman Capote
About Venice Biennale and why I went there
Truman Garcia Capote was an American novelist, screenwriter, playwright and actor. He certainly knew better about Venice.
This year, I have a second chance to attend the Venice’s Biennale thanks to the partnership built by Max - my agent - and Itsliquid Group. It’s an honour for me to attend such an incredible and important event.
FYI, the Biennale it’s a celebration of art and architecture and it explores themes of politics and contemporary cultural & social issues through performance, sculpture and installations. General public from all over the world is in Venice at this time of the year, and if you have the opportunity and you want to see unique art from incredible emerging or super famous artists, you must go! Bonus point is the city and the environment: in Venice everything moves on water and I’m looking forward to jumping on the “vaporetto” to go to the venues.
This time in Venice is even more special to me because I decided to go with my mom ❤️ Because she was a professional seamstress, she spent an entire week sewing the dresses I will wear during the performance. I’m really grateful to have such a special person believing and contributing in this with me. Living abroad and not being able to share experiences with my family is frustrating sometimes, and this seemed such a nice opportunity to live something important together. My mom is my number one fan since the beginning, although my choice of being an artist as a life commitment didn’t consolidate support at the start.
I was very young and I just finished high school: everyone was really scared about the outcome of this choice. I’m still struggling and facing challenges every day, it’s not a standard job where you have a salary to rely on. You need to schedule in advance and give up many things, but the emotional reward is the best and every little or big thing I do every day makes me happy. I dream about the things I want to do and when I wake up I do my best to keep those dreams alive or to make them come true. When it happens it’s like hallucinating but you know that it’s for real, and this blows my mind. I would never exchange this feeling for all the money in the world.
Palazzo Bembo and Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello are the Biennale venues where I’ll perform and my knees are shaking 😖 I’ll also have Sky Arts cameras following me for 2 days to make a few bts and a new song to showcase during the performances so..wish me good luck!
These days will be a good opportunity to also launch my fundraising and I want to make a small video telling you these words you see below - that you can read before anyone else because you are supporting me with this newsletter:
There is a lot of behind-the-scenes that you don’t get to see in an artist’s life, but I think to show it, is the key today. Because I’ve never accomplished anything by myself alone - I always relied on people who believed in me, my projects and my art - I think it’s time to get to know each other better and more in-depth! I have so many plans to convey that I don’t know where to start! But I decided that from today I’ll keep track of the process and I’ll directly engage with you every step of the way. Many people I meet on my path ask me “How can I support you?” Here’s the way! I’ll be creating customised products, art, and music, and I’ll be sharing goals every month so you can decide how and for what you want to contribute. In this way, what I do will relate to you at the highest level and we will be protagonists of something we like, together. You will see your ideas flourishing through my hands, voice and colours. I want to put your stories into my artwork because that’s how I find purpose, so keep your eyes peeled because I need you!
Here are the links to two projects I need your support for:
“The Blending of Senses” at Tate Modern on 19th of June
Collaborative project at Barbican in October 2022
Let me know what you think about that, email me or DM me on Instagram, always happy to talk to each and everyone of you and to hear a real voice sharing a feedback with me 💚
