“Pictures of perfection make me sick and wicked” - Jane Austen
Embrace yourself and join me at Tate Modern
I’m reading “Beautiful world, where are you” by Sally Rooney and I’m loving it. Rooney grapples with many questions, from the various definitions of success to how one finds hope in an oftentimes hopeless world. It gives me so much to reflect on, and I thought about the Spring Celebration I did with my friends in a valley in the middle of the mountains a few weeks ago: it’s called Faja dos Vinháticos, in Madeira, a Portugal island. We made a connection walk, jumped into a river, and burn our fears on paper into the fire, lit by the full moon halo. How imperfect but true we have been!
As an artist - and a human being - I feel constantly challenged about perfection and success. To love yourself is to experience freedom; freedom from doubts, self-hate, and oppression created by you. Self-love is a necessity if you want to live a truly happy life, and yet is so difficult isn’t it?
The fears I want to say goodbye to, are:
Fear of failure
Fear of judgment
Fear of not being good enough
Fear of end up alone
Fear of not accepting things I can’t change
I made sure the fire burned them for good 😝 🔥 What are the fears you want to say goodbye to?
While I paint or sing, I don’t feel the need of being perfect or accepted. I just feel very good and very grounded and also a bit proud of what I can produce! Of course the most difficult part is to trust the process, but I’m learning and trying to appreciate every little steps. I’m sharing more of all this on my social media and I see more interaction: it makes me happy to be in contact, makes me feel seen. I have new pieces from Venice Biennale performances on my Etsy shop that represents the journey I’m making now: if any of the pieces are resonating with you, please reach out, it would be a joy to know more about what you think about them 💚
I’m also getting ready for Tate Modern performance + exhibition! I’m so grateful for all the support I’m receiving and I’m working on a resourceful and exciting event you can go out from with your heart and mind full. It will possible to buy art pieces, make live donations, look at prototypes for new projects, have a closer look at the performance, being featured in the Sky Arts docu and many many other things I’m so looking forward to sharing with you.
