Embracing the beauty of slow living
Prioritising performances and workshop sessions in a leisurely environment
Approaching the anniversary of my leap of faith from London to Madeira, I find myself reflecting on the transformative journey I embarked on. Living on this small island in the Atlantic Ocean wasn't something I expected, but it has become a significant part of my life. While it hasn't always been easy, the challenges have shaped me and my perspectives. Living in Madeira has exposed me to a slower pace of life. In contrast to the hustle and bustle of London, everything here moves at a more relaxed rhythm. Cashiers count change in sloth mode, conversations unfold at a leisurely pace, and even my own movements have adapted to the island's unhurried nature. This change has allowed me to appreciate my surroundings and notice the small wonders of life, like a crab switching shells on the beach or the aroma of the eucalyptus on the mountains.
Adjusting to this slower pace has been one of the greatest challenges. Instant gratification is no longer the norm, and I've had to learn patience and acceptance. However, this shift in perspective has also influenced my values. Prioritizing material possessions has taken a backseat, and I now place greater importance on cultivating meaningful relationships. As I navigate this journey, I find myself contemplating the balance between a slow-paced existence on the island and the desire to explore new horizons and live in different places. I am eager to find the right equilibrium between a leisurely lifestyle and a productive work environment. If you have any suggestions for retreats, art courses, or lessons around the world, I am open to new possibilities. Feel free to reach out and share your recommendations! So far, I have dedicated myself to creating and performing. I've been using this time to write new shows, such as "Fluttering Colours," which is nearly complete, lacking only the final two melodic lines. Rehearsals will follow, and I am also preparing for another show called "Ephemeral Echoes" with a DJ duo. My goal is to have multiple performances ready for different occasions and locations around the world.
Singing, performing, and painting remain my top priorities, and I aim to bring my workshop, "Liquid Sounds," to various parts of the world. In the coming months, I have plans to visit Gdansk, Prague, Split or Pula, and Porto. As I continue to write and refine my performances, I hope to have everything ready by September. The preparation process is lengthy, but I've learned from the island that taking the time and slowing down is essential for achieving the best possible outcome.
I am dedicated to my creative pursuits and look forward to sharing my performances with audiences worldwide. The island's influence has reinforced the significance of waiting and taking things at the right pace, which I believe is a valuable lesson, but I’m also very much ready to smash it! Additionally, I am excited to share that I am collaborating with Oliwia on the new branding for "Liquid Sounds." Together, we are working on refreshing the image and bringing a fresh perspective to the project. You can stay updated on our progress and follow me on my new accounts: one dedicated to my performances, and the other showcasing my work as a curator and consultant in the London art gallery, as well as my artistic creations outside of performances. Please join me on this exciting journey by following me on these two new accounts!
See you soon around Europe!
