July is here, and I'm buzzing with excitement to share the latest adventures and musings with all of you.
What I did this month:
Sustainability Consulting training with Force of Nature - I’m now certified and I’m going to take the next steps to bring what I learned into my workshops and performances!
Sofar Sounds performance + artwork sale
Accomplished the small mission of making a hard hiking path by myself (16 km with 1000 mt of elevation gain)
Wrote the final two songs for “Fluttering Colours” + the introduction of the Ouverture song for the theatre show and organising notes for the new show “Digital Classic” (I talk about it below) *
Studying the Essentials in Art Fundraising at Future Learn (with the possibility of being a public speaker about it!)
I’ve been teaching a group of 15 students from Bulgaria who joined an Erasmus project about synaesthesia and performing
I curated the promotion, the graphics, and all the copy and artists’ articles of a show in London called “Sightlines” at SKT Spaces, Hoxton
I created home fragrances and incense with my dear friend Nathan Slate and I didn’t know it could be so easy
I’m still looking for a cool and engaging course about Ableton Live production to get better at it, especially because I’m going to make many shows with it and I want to be a pro!
In the July newsletter, I’ll tell you instead how many things I didn’t do.
But I also want to dive deep into a topic that resonates with so many of us—the delicate dance between belonging and ambivalence. It's a feeling we often experience when we find ourselves torn between two worlds. Far from our home country, yet finding solace and satisfaction in the place we now call home. Nostalgic for the people we love dearly, yet content with the amazing souls who have become part of our lives. Missing the familiarity of old habits, yet eager to embrace the beauty of new experiences. It's a complex web of emotions that both challenges and enriches our lives.
I've had the opportunity to engage in captivating discussions about this very topic with the minds of Sandbox—a community of visionaries and thought leaders. I must confess, it's been so much fun to connect with these individuals who share the same sentiments and understanding. The sense of belonging and the exchange of ideas have been magical. I've even applied to become a member myself! Fingers crossed for this thrilling new chapter in my journey.
But I want to hear from you: as I prepare to jet off to London, Gdansk, and Prague for my upcoming workshops and performances, and I'd love to hear your suggestions and recommendations. I’ve been to Prague when I was a teenager and I’m thrilled at the idea of exploring the city with different eyes. The workshop will be in Gabriel Loci and the link to register is here.
I've compiled a list of captivating places that have ignited my curiosity: Karpuchina Gallery, Hunt Kastner, the Stalin, Berlinskej Model, Kvalitar, and the National Gallery. Each holds the promise of unveiling new dimensions of creativity and inspiration. And Gdansk awaits me with open arms, where I'll have the privilege of being guided by my dear friend and partner in crime for Liquid Sounds, Oliwia. She has prepared an array of experiences and art exhibitions for us to explore together. Have you been to these cities? Are there any hidden gems, must-see art galleries, or awe-inspiring experiences that I simply cannot miss? Don't hesitate to reach out to me on Instagram or shoot me an email. Your insights and personal recommendations are like gold to me!
* In the meantime, I’m writing. In London, I will rehearse for "Digital Classic” and I’m very eager to listen to how it sounds in a real recording studio. I imagine this as a mind-bending experience that pushes the boundaries of synesthesia and blurs the lines between sound, visuals, and immersive sensations. This performance transports you to a futuristic realm where music manifests as tangible forms and digital landscapes burst with vibrant hues. It's a celebration of classical elegance (from a classical pianist) fused with modern technology—a seamless interplay between the traditional and the contemporary. I will explore the theme of connectivity and isolation, a topic that holds profound significance in our digital age. We'll examine how technology and social media have connected us on a global scale, yet paradoxically contributed to feelings of isolation and disconnection. The performance will showcase the dual nature of digital connectivity, shedding light on both the potential for meaningful connections and the challenges of maintaining authentic human relationships. Get ready to have your perceptions challenged as illusions, optical tricks, and mind-bending visual effects distort your sense of reality.
I hope you will like it.
Follow my upcoming adventures on the new dedicated accounts—one for performances and the other showcasing my work as a curator and consultant in the London art gallery, along with my artistic creations outside of performances.
With passion and excitement,
B.
P.S. Don't forget to reach out and share your suggestions for Gdansk, and Prague. I can't wait to explore these vibrant cities with your guidance!
